Rudderless Leadership!

 My Wonderful People

I hail.

Like I said in a previous post, "Our house dey burn".

So I have deemed it imperative to spend a bit of my time on pouring out my thoughts
And if possible, rile up our spirits to stand up, step up and make the lil difference each of us can individually make.

Na from childhood I begin hear say, "Rome was not built in a day".
Obviously cos it has some of the most amazingly beautiful edifices in the world, masterfully crafted and still standing the test of time.

So if I dey look Rome (of course na for only TV I dey see am oo 🤭) I dey get hope say one day, even my own Home go make sense.

The Flavian Amphitheater in Rome, popularly known as The Colosseum, depicts not just mastery of technology and craftsmanship, but also a deep sense of security consciousness at the heart of the magnificent design and implementation.

Now this is a master piece that was built as far back as between 72 and 80 AD, but you can't help but marvel at the ingenuity and finesse that brought that structure into existence.
Arched windows and all...💪🏻

Then there's Dubai - a hitherto desert, but with similar resources as our dear nation Nigeria.

The only marked difference being the outstanding and selfless leadership they enjoy!
That in itself, birthed one of the safest and most beautiful places in the world today.

Dubai knows the whereabout of every drop of crude oil from their country - from extraction to point of sale.
This invariably means that every penny is accounted for.

That's the hallmark of accountability and a strong testament to the high Quality of their Institutions.
Cos I mean, how can one ever go wrong with that method of leadership. especially in a sector that has very high prevalence of corruption around the world?

Let's bring it back home a bit...
We can't talk of the Oil Sector without recognizing that the actions and inactions of the extractive industries, have had (and still having) dire geological and ecological ramifications on the oil producing regions.

For anyone who thinks the Grammar School wey I go don dey affect me, 😊 no vex.
I basically mean that the oil spillage, pollution, among other effects of negligence and non compliance to proper standards, have caused series of damages to the people and the environment of oil producing regions.

And I won't be wrong to believe these extractive industries do these wrong practices and get away with them only in countries where corruption prevalence is high.

During the election campaigns, a certain Presidential Candidate vividly pointed everyone's attention to the magnitude of the Oil Theft going on, with practical explanations as to how it's impossible for such flagitiousness to be occurring, without the knowledge and of course the say-so of the people in power.

It's actually heartbreaking that a new administration has spent exactly three (3) months to this day in office, and not a single move has been made (at least not to the knowledge of the populace), to mitigate this nefariousness, and forestall future occurrences.

They hurriedly ended fuel subsidy, without having any measure (functional refineries) in place to cushion the price sky-rocketing effect, thereby throwing everyone and everything in turmoil.
That's like placing the cart before the horse.

But then, it's no surprise, as the leaders foisted on us are just visionless and clueless.

I have rooted for this nation for so long, believing it was only a matter of awakening, and the populace would speak with one voice and get the leader(s) of our dreams.
But the last election shattered dreams and hopes.

The decisions we had already made at the polls, were thwarted by a select few.
Only to be referred to the courts to determine our fate..

Well, all eyes are on the Judiciary! Their decisions and judgement can make or mar this nation.

Maybe they are not paying proper attention, and may be thinking it can be business as usual.

They should think again! Cos I can already perceive it in the air...
With the penury, hunger, starvation, anguish and unrest in the nation....
Hmmm!
E don dey reach when bushmeat go catch the hunter!

Live In The Moment.....

In recent times, I have been occupied with the thoughts of some of my loved ones who are no more.

I still wonder what activity they must have been carrying out an hour before they passed on.

What if they had their favorite food?

What if they didn’t?

What if they were still angry with someone who hurt them?

What if they postponed the call to their loved ones?

What if? What if they watched their favorite movie?

What if not?

Honestly, thinking about these truly unsettles me.

Inasmuch as I feel sad that they are no more, I try to imagine what they would have done differently were they given another chance at life. I am here to share some of my thoughts on how to make the most of our time on this side of eternity by God’s grace. I hope this meets you well.

1. Forgive yourself: There are things I have done in the past that occasionally sting me. Some of them were mistakes that could have been avoided, some were due to my naivety, some were intentional. Regardless, I believe those moments were integral to shaping my life’s journey. Of course, mistakes come with consequences but would it be wise to wallow in a pit of sorrow? By no means! I have come to understand that I am also deserving of my forgiveness. I choose to stay in touch with my emotions, clean up and move on. Not as easy it sounds but it is actually doable.

2. Live in the Present: Be intentional about cultivating and participating in happiness. Do not be afraid to become more. You will have doubts but do not nurture them. You are here for a reason so live it out. Avoid drama, screen your circle, learn wisdom, honor the seasons of blooming and shedding in your life, take note of your distractions and be sure to extinguish them, leave your past where it is, deny it oxygen. Live, Love and Breathe. Today is your gift, utilize it.

3. Forgive others: Most times, it is not about the one who hurts you but about yourself. No one deserves to occupy space in your heart for so long because of anger. You have loved ones who need such attention in your heart. It may be difficult but you have to try. Call their names, cry if you have to but choose forgiveness.

4. Give hope a chance: Only God knows the end from the beginning. This means you should stop trying so hard to figure everything out before choosing to try again. Just do it! Perfection is only attained through bits of consistent efforts. Push my dearest, push! It is time to fan the flames of hope.

I think I should stop here. Does this help? Will you do well to honor the gift of today? I trust you would.

My heart and love to everyone who has lost a loved one. Strength and comfort are my prayers for you.

Thank you for reading.

With Love.
